Awards

Michael has received numerous songwriting awards and honours, including winning 2nd place in the Lyrics Only category of the 2016 International Songwriting Competition for his song 'Diamonds'. His song 'Nightingale' received an Honourable Mention at the same competition which had over 16,000 entries worldwide. Michael’s songwriting has also been recognized with Honourable Mentions at both the U.S.A. and Canadian Songwriting Competitions.

Michael’s songwriting awards, nominations and honours include the following:

• International Songwriting Competition (semi-finalist in 2013, 2015, 2016 & 2019, with 4 songs in the semi-finals in 2016, including both a 2nd place winner and Honourable Mention);

• U.S.A Songwriting Competition (finalist in the ‘Lyrics Only’ category in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021);

• Canada Songwriting Competition (2016 semi-finalist in 4 categories, including 2 Honourable Mentions; 2017 semi-finalist in multiple categories);

• Unsigned Only Songwriting Competition (2021 semi-finalist in multiple categories);

• Independent Music Award nominations (Government Town, 2013 & 2016);

• Selected to represent his home Province at the 2019 PEI Songwriting Competition;

• Awarded $10,000 through Rawlco Radio’s 10k20 commercial recording funding project.
